Compassion Lotus Prayer Flags
Compassion Lotus Prayer Flags
I have silk screened these flags by hand, using colorfast textile inks. There are 10 flags, each measuring approximately 7" square (the flags altogether measure 70", almost 6'), stitched onto a 9.5' dark green nylon braid cord.
My interpretation of the lotus flower of compassion is silkscreened in royal blue ink on five of the flags; the circular mantra of compassion (OM MANI PEME HUNG) with the seed syllable, HRI, in center is silkscreened in black on five flags. Their order alternates along the strand, while maintaining the traditional color order of blue, white, red, green, and yellow.
I will provide each set of flags with a written explanation of some of the meaning behind these symbols. May all beings benefit from the blessings contained in these sacred syllables.
